The Emerson Journals Digital Archive
The Ralph Waldo Emerson Institute is pleased to offer digital files of the Emerson Journals.
The digitized files were scanned and edited from the Edward Emerson ten-volume edition, originally published by Houghton Mifflin in 1904-14. The ten volumes comprise 5000 pages of Emerson's private journals, which he kept throughout his lifetime.
The great advantage of the digital archive is that they are readily searchable
in Acrobat Reader. In addition, using Acrobat Reader 7.0 or later,
the files can be read in audio, employing an electronic "voice" in Acrobat.
CDs of the Complete Journals in PDF files sell for $75.00, including postage and handling, through Pay Pal.
In addition checks for that amount may be made out to The Ralph Waldo Emerson Institute and sent to RWEI, 680 Lexington Ave, Floor 3, New York, NY 10022.

Notes:
1. Generally, it is best to open Acrobat before you open a PDF file.
2. You can search and print files from Acrobat Reader. Later versions also have audio.
3. If you want to convert PDF to word processing, Select All in View and then copy/paste to an RTF file. Formatting will be lost, but can be restored in your processor.
4. In PDF, you can use either the Search mode or Find mode. We have found that the Search mode is subject to glitches. The Find mode works well, however.
5. Users of rwe.org are also reminded that all the material in the Complete Works on the site can be converted into PDf files and listened to in audio mode.
