RWE Random Quotes |
The days come and go like muffled and veiled figures sent from
a distant friendly party, but they say nothing, and if we do not use the
gifts they bring, they carry them as silently away.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, His
Life, His Work and His Legacy
In the 19th century
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1883) wrote of "One Self which animates all things
and One mind common to all," and awakened America to a vision of transcendent
unity. Igniting a search for truth, freedom and self-knowledge through his
writing and his life, Emerson still inspires
readers today to embrace these truths for themselves. Join us to celebrate
and explore Emerson- his life, his circle of friends, his influences and his
legacy. Come rediscover the wisdom of our great American philosopher. The
evening will include dramatic readings, lectures and group discussion led
by
Barbara Solowey, BA, MA, who teaches a course in Emerson at the School of
Practical Philosophy in New York City. Joining her will be Steve
Brown, Jim Manley, Mick Bivona and Wayne Cato. Sponsored by the Friends
of the Library. 7:30 pm
